The Hangzhou branch store of Louis Vuitton suddenly closed without issuing any public notice leaving both customers and onlookers surprised and disappointed to not see the beautiful window-shop anymore. It was later announced that the shop was closed following to the inspection conducted by Industrial and Commercial Bureau.
Zhao Xiaojing, the Director of Marketing Communications in LV China, eventually broke the silence, revealing that the accident was mainly caused by a problem of missing brand labels. According to the Chinese regulations, all the leather bags made in China should bear a small label, indicating material and brands. “All of our leather products are made in France where we don’t need that kind of labels.” Zhao Xiaojing has declared, “The management of products’ labels are too strict in Hangzhou.”
Even though, without such brand label there is no way for buyers to appreciate the quality of the products purchased. The incident has apparently already influenced the perception of loyal LV consumers and the prospect of this top-notch brand in Hangzhou.
